This week, we crossed over a threshold, moving us from the uncertainty of the election outcome to the uncertainty of what that outcome means to us individually and collectively. As is always true, the greatest strength of our community lies in our diversity. We are as committed as ever to ensuring we nurture that diversity as our students work to make sense of their own thoughts and feelings about the election and otherwise. We remain unified in our values and commitment to building and sustaining a community defined by respect, inquiry, companionship, and even love.

Earlier this week, I encouraged courage to feel, act, speak, reflect, and wonder as I believe the strongest communities are human at their core. May this moment also serve as a reminder for all of us to turn towards the most vulnerable with a spirit of service and care.

We filmed the following video a few weeks ago with the hope and intention of illuminating our “Cate Way” of approaching and encouraging complexity of all kinds. We each engaged in this recorded conversation without rehearsing or scripts and I hope you enjoy getting a glimpse into an authentic slice of life here on the Mesa. - Head of Schools, Alex Lockett
